1 medium onion, chopped
1 small green pepper, cut into strips
1 teaspoon dried thyme
2 teaspoons garlic powder, divided
1 pound sirloin steak (1 inch thick), trimmed
1 can (14-1/2 ounces) stewed tomatoes
2 teaspoons cornstarch
Pepper to taste
In a skillet coated with nonstick cooking spray, saute onion, green pepper, thyme and 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder until vegetables are crisp-tender. Meanwhile, sprinkle steak with remaining garlic powder; grill or broil 5 in. from the heat for 6-8 minutes (for medium-rare), turning once, or until desired doneness is reached. Drain tomatoes, reserving juice; add tomatoes to skillet. Combine juice with cornstarch; add to vegetable mixture. cook and stir until thickened. Add pepper. Thinly slice meat; top with vegetables.
